The beginning of a new chapter.

Today I brought out the water paint colours, and sharpies and drew circles.

Tell me if you see the bird, the lemon or the kid with headphones on.

Welcome to my Dry January and to my chosen way to relax at the end of the day… without booze.

So how’s it going you might ask?

Pretty good. I like not battling myself to get to the things I need to do. Operating without a foggy head is pretty nice.

My memory is sharpening up and theres this general feeling of peace and anxiety combined that’s found a nice spot to hang out in my life.

Anxiety because you’re redirecting your brain away from a comfy fun known habit.

I feel like I have a lot more time on my hands and quite frankly out of sorts.

Welcome to my new hobby – art.

Can I draw/paint? I don’t know but let’s give it a go. Whose to say my circles aren’t art.

One place I get a lot of great mindfulness art ideas is Andrea Nelson Art on YouTube and Instagram.

Fun, easy and sometimes mindLESS art tutorials. Hence the circles.

It brings me joy and keeps me occupied.

But wait. There’s more!

2024 is the year of the new and improved me.

There’s a lot of ways I think I can make myself better through healthier choices.

  • Sobriety
  • Chasing down every obstacle
  • Intermittent fasting
  • Food as medicine.
  • Brain health
  • Strength training of some kind.
  • May be more. Stay tuned.

Let’s just say I have my podcast and YouTube heroes and at some point you have to either make the coffee or throw out the pot (see what I did there )🤣☕️

I’ve heard the evidence. I’ve used my critical thinking skills and done my due diligence- it’s go time.

My plan is to share all the things that I’ve been studying up on cause…

This is Flip the Beetle and that’s what we do here.

Help each other.

Share information with absolutely no ulterior motive except communal well being.

I will also be sharing my art until the art police come and deem my doodles unworthy.

Goodbye comfort zone. Heck posting my creations online is more like setting my comfort zone on fire in a garbage pail. Fun!?

At which point I shall revert to my true love crochet. However painting and art for me, is part of my chasing the obstacle journey.

Let’s do this.

p.s. the recipes will continue!
