Slow Cooker Lazy Cabbage Rolls

It’s not that making cabbage rolls is HARD per se.

Just time consuming like so many of our favourite foods seem to be.

Lazy Cabbage Rolls

Solution is Lazy Cabbage Rolls in the slow cooker!

Taste is on point with minimal hours spent steaming, forming and rolling.

Let’s do this!

What You Need

  • Medium bowl
  • Frying pan
  • Slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped how you like
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or (1/2 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 pkges coleslaw mix or 1 small green cabbage shredded
  • 14 oz diced tomatoes
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp worcestire sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked rice

This is how do it

Fry up the ground beef, drain.

Add the onions and cook til translucent on medium/low heat. Add garlic when onions are done and turn off burner.

In a medium bowl mix up the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, 1/2 cup water and worcestire sauce.

Combine the meat mixture with the tomato mixture in the crockpot.

Mix in the cabbage.

Cook on low for 4-6 hrs.

Add in the rice when you’re done.

Let the mixture warm up the rice while you set the table and corral your family members to the table.

Serve with a side salad and some crusty bread or buttered rye bread and voila dinner is done.

I know this seems like it doesn’t have much going on but trust me it’s loaded with flavour and the absolute definition of comfort food.

Give it a try.
