What the Heck is a ZENTANGLE?

Zentangle oh how I love thee.

I got into this artful meditation how we all learn new things – Reels.

Heading onto a 2 week transatlantic repositioning cruise, I was looking for something to do that didn’t involve drinking, screen time or a whole lot of materials.

materials required

Zentangling only requires a pen and paper. My latest ones have colour but I find the black and white more enjoyable to be honest.

It’s a repetitive pattern that is surprisingly satisfying and well, zen like!

inspiration

I bought a blank (no lines) notebook and just started by searching zentangle on different mediums like facebook and instagram.

When I see a pattern that grabs me I screenshot it for later reference.

I like to add the date and where I was when I finished it. Also the site where I saw the pattern.

This current notebook started on the Atlantic Ocean. The pattern you see here is in Los Barriles BCS.

just breathe…

The idea is to take deep breaths, relax your hold on the pen and recount the things you are grateful for or pop on a podcast that will stretch your mind and enhance your life.

If the circle isn’t perfect – it’s fine.

If the line isn’t straight – it’s fine.

This is where I started:

Than this:

You tangle with whatever you have otherwise it’s not a tangle. Perfection has no place here.

I shall share my tangles with you 🙂

This pattern is from IG lines.and.loops.

The practise of zentangling is amazing for calming nervous energy, anxiety, boredom and mindless scrolling.

And just look at it, it’s cute right. I am partial to the 3D tangles.

Try it out and let me know what you think!
